AIRTEST GARAGE VENTILATION SYSTEM DELIVERS 95.7% ENERGY SAVINGS

AirTest Garage Ventilation System Delivers 95.7% Energy Savings

Peak Energy (kW) Demand Also Reduced by 95.7%

DELTA, BC, April 10, 2012 - ATI AirTest Technologies (TSX-V: AAT) announced today that its proprietary carbon monoxide (CO) sensor-based garage ventilation system achieved a 95.7% reduction in kilowatt hour (kWh) consumption and peak kilowatt (kW) demand at a 160-car parking garage in the heart of San Francisco's historic Fisherman's Wharf. Engineers for the regional utility, Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E), verified the savings.


Nagle Energy Solutions (NES), a leading green-technology consulting and installation company (an AirTest distributor); project designed and managed the installation of the AirTest system at 655 Beach Street, which is home to the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO).


According to Mr. Lou Cuneo, Director of Facilities for the AAO, the cost to ventilate the Academy's garage historically has represented 10 percent of the Academy's total, annual energy consumption. Two weeks of post-installation data logging by NES verified the AirTest system has reduced the Academy's annual garage ventilation costs to now represent less than one half of 1 percent - 0.43 percent - of its total annual energy consumption.

According to AirTest president George Graham, "This is the first installation of our latest, most sophisticated ventilation system for enclosed parking garages, and based on the Academy garage results, it will serve to greatly accelerate and expand our parking garage retrofit program nationally and internationally."


NES installed Air Test's new CN8500 Tridium Jace controller to analyze CO sensor data throughout the AAO garage and modulate the ventilation rate provided by the four (4) garage fan motors. The AirTest CN8500 controller is compatible with building systems that utilize LonWorks®, Bacnet® or Modbus communication protocols. Its Web-based interface provides the ability to remotely set and manage the CO system's operating parameters, detect and troubleshoot sensor faults, etc. The CN8500 interfaces with variable frequency drive (VFD) technology to track real-time energy consumption and generate reports on energy consumption, system status and maintenance.

The AirTest CO sensor-based, demand control ventilation (DCV) system utilizes a proprietary, smart-control logic that detects and measures vehicle fumes in the garage space and then modulates fan speeds to prevent CO levels from exceeding 10 parts per million (ppm) for extended periods of time. This enables it to consistently achieve greater energy savings - up to and beyond 95% - while ensuring the health and safety of building occupants and visitors by providing continuous ventilation.


The AAO's 655 Beach Street garage is ventilated 24 hours a day, seven days a week by three (3) exhaust fans and one (1) supply fan totaling 28.5 horsepower (HP). Prior to installing the Air Test system, the garage fans consumed 146,926-kilowatt hours (kWh) and 16.8 peak kilowatts (kW) per year at an annual cost of $23,508.


Post-installation data logging shows AirTest's smart-control logic and the NES ventilation design achieves annual energy savings amounting to 140,661 kWh and 16.1 kW - or a 95.7% reduction in kWh consumption and peak kW demand.


The AirTest garage DCV system will pay for itself in just 18 ˝ months, and the Academy's annual cost to ventilate its garage will drop by $22,506 - a 95.7% decrease.
